How It Began
It was an ordinary evening. I came back from office at 7:30 PM. Exhausted, not just from the day, but from something deeper. I felt broken in a way I couldn’t name. The kind of broken where you sit on your bed and don’t know what to do next.
At 8:00 PM, for no reason I can explain, I opened something on astrology. I don’t remember what led me there. Something pulled me.
I started reading. And I didn’t stop.
I forgot to eat. Not because I was fasting or disciplined. I genuinely forgot. The hunger disappeared. Sleep disappeared. Time disappeared. I was so completely absorbed that the next thing I noticed was sunlight coming through the window. It was 9:00 AM. I had read through the entire night without moving.
That night was the beginning. Not of a hobby. Not of a career plan. Of a calling that hasn’t let go of me since.
The Turn Toward Jain Jyotish
My study began where almost everyone’s does: classical Indian Jyotisha. The grahas, the rashis, the nakshatras, the dashas. I read charts for friends, then family, then strangers. I studied the classical texts and tested predictions against real lives.
But the deeper I went, the more one question refused to leave me: if the planets decide everything, what is left for the person to do?
The answer I kept meeting in mainstream practice was uncomfortable. Fear the transit. Buy the stone. Perform the ritual. Pay the fee. The person was reduced to a spectator of their own life.
Then I found the answer the Jain tradition has held for over two thousand years, and it changed how I read every chart since.
In Jain teaching, the planets do not do anything to you. They cannot. The chart at your birth is a reading of the karma your soul already carries: a ledger, not a verdict. Jain philosophy counts astrology among the nimitta-shastras, the sciences of signs. A sign points. It does not push. And because Jainism holds that karma is bound by the soul’s own activity, it also holds that karma can be shed by the soul’s own effort: through awareness, restraint, fasting, forgiveness, and right conduct.
This is the most empowering framing of astrology that exists in any Indian tradition. Panch samavaya, the doctrine of five factors, says every outcome arises from time, nature, destiny, past karma, and self-effort together. The chart reads one input. The rest is yours.
Nidarshana Vedh is now devoted to this: astrology read the Jain way. Same rigorous calculation. Radically different, and radically more honest, interpretation.
Why This Site Exists
Look at what is happening to astrology online. Influencers with six months of surface knowledge making reels with background music and zero depth. Platforms charging by the minute while software does the reading. Fear as a business model: scare people with Sade Sati, sell them a gemstone, move to the next customer.
And for the Jain community specifically, there is almost nothing. The panchang apps show dates but explain nothing. The big astrology portals recycle one thin article about “Jainism and astrology.” The tradition that produced the Surya Prajnapti, the Chandra Prajnapti, the Jyotisha Karandaka, and the nimitta tradition of Acharya Bhadrabahu, the tradition whose acharya Mahaviracharya wrote India’s first standalone mathematics text, has no serious astrology destination of its own.
Nidarshana Vedh exists to be that destination. Grounded in sources. Respectful of every sect. Priced honestly. And absolutely committed to the Jain view that your effort outweighs your stars.
What We Stand For
If your chart shows a difficult period, we tell you what it means and how to navigate it. Karmic weather is to be lived through with skill, not paid away in panic. Shani is not your enemy. He is your strictest teacher.
No coral, no pearl, no animal-derived materials. No fire sacrifices. No vashikaran or occult services, ever. The remedies we suggest are the ones the Jain tradition itself trusts: Navkar Mantra, fasting on parva tithis, quiet charity, and changed conduct. They cost nothing.
Shvetambara and Digambara calendars differ. Gacchas differ. Sthanakvasi and Terapanthi practice differs again. Where dates or customs split, we show the traditions side by side and declare none of them wrong. That is not diplomacy. It is accuracy.
Canonical astronomy is cited as canon. Later attributions are labeled as attributions. Beloved stories, like Varahamihira and Bhadrabahu as rival brothers, are told as the legends they are, never passed off as history. This community is educated. It deserves honesty.
The Three Jewels
Everything at Nidarshana Vedh rests on the Ratnatraya, the three jewels of the Jain path:
Samyak Darshana
Right seeing. The chart read as it is: a record of bound karma, free of fear and free of flattery. A sign that points, never a hand that pushes.
Samyak Jnana
Right knowledge. Precise sidereal calculation, the Jain tithi calendar, classical sources studied with discipline, and the humility to say "the traditions differ here."
Samyak Charitra
Right conduct. Ahimsa governs every recommendation we make and every rupee we charge. Astrology practiced as seva, within the limits the tradition itself sets for it.

The Mantra We Live By
णमो सिद्धाणं
णमो आयरियाणं
णमो उवज्झायाणं
णमो लोए सव्वसाहूणं
The Navkar Mantra is the most universal prayer in the Jain tradition, honored by every sect without exception. It bows to no god of favors and asks for nothing. It venerates qualities: the Arihantas who conquered inner enemies, the Siddhas who attained liberation, the Acharyas, the Upadhyayas, and all sadhus everywhere.
That is why it opens this website and every reading we do. Jain astrology does not propitiate planets. It honors the qualities that dissolve karma, and then asks you to practice them. Whatever clarity comes through a reading here is measured against that standard.
This is not a decorative mantra on our website. It is the frame around every chart we open.
