Vedic astrology reads the year from your Moon sign (rashi), counting houses from it in whole signs. The 2027 sky is built around a few slow movements, all calculated in the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri ayanamsa, with dates in Indian Standard Time.
Saturn starts the year in Meena (Pisces). On 3 June 2027 it enters Mesha (Aries), where it is traditionally weak, and stays until 20 October, when it returns to Meena. It turns retrograde on 9 August and direct on 24 December. This short crossing is the reason several Moon signs feel a different Saturn in the middle of the year than at either end. The page on Sade Sati 2026 to 2027 explains the cycle in full.
Jupiter begins the year in Simha (Leo), enters Karka (Cancer) on 25 January, where it is exalted, and turns direct there on 13 April. It returns to Simha on 26 June and enters Kanya (Virgo) on 26 November. Rahu remains in Makara (Capricorn) and Ketu in Karka all year, a pairing explained in Rahu and Ketu from 2026 to 2028.
Five eclipses fall in 2027: an annular solar eclipse on 6 February in Makara, a penumbral lunar eclipse on 21 February in Simha, another on 18 July in Makara, a total solar eclipse on 2 August in Karka and a penumbral lunar eclipse on 17 August in Makara. Mars is retrograde from 10 January to 1 April, and Mercury is retrograde in February and March, June and July, and October. Whether any eclipse is visible in India has to be checked each time, and the sutak custom applies only where an eclipse can be seen.
