About this book
The Brhatsamhita is a major Sanskrit work by Varahamihira, the sixth century astronomer and astrologer. It ranges over astronomy, omens, weather and architecture, with chapters on house building and temples, which is why it is read in Vastu study. Bhattotpala wrote a well known commentary on it in the tenth century.
This set of two hardcover volumes was published in 2016 by Sampurnanand Sanskrit University and runs to 1,229 pages. The photo shows an orange cover with red spines.
How it is used
A text for study by readers who can read Sanskrit, often used with a teacher. Vastu students go to its architecture chapters, and astrology students to its sections on planets and omens.
