About this book
Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra, often shortened to BPHS, is the text attributed to the sage Parasara and treated as a foundation of Vedic astrology. This edition from Sagar Publications is the Girish Chand Sharma compendium in two volumes.
It gives the Sanskrit text with an English translation and detailed annotation, and runs to 1448 pages in all. The photo shows the tan cover of Volume 1. It suits a serious student of Jyotish who wants the full classic rather than a summary.
How it is used
A reference to read chapter by chapter alongside a birth chart. Students of Jyotish often keep BPHS by the desk and return to it for the classical rules on planets, houses, signs and dasha systems.
