About this piece
This is a tongue scraper made of copper, shaped as a U with a thin curved band and a short ridged handle at each end. The seller says it is made of 100 per cent copper.
Scraping the tongue in the morning is an old Indian habit and is part of the daily routine described in Ayurveda. The photos show a pale copper colour on a cream ground, and a plain brown kraft card box printed with the logo that it comes in.
How it is used
In Ayurvedic routine the tongue is scraped gently from back to front in the morning, before brushing, and the scraper is rinsed after each stroke. Hold the two handles and use light pressure.
Looking after it
- Wash with water after each use and dry it.
- Copper darkens with time. A little lemon and salt can be used to clean it.
