About this book

The Shiva Mahapurana is a major text of the Shaiva tradition. This is the Gita Press, Gorakhpur complete set in Hindi, in two parts, codes 2223 and 2224.

The two hardcover volumes run to 2160 pages and about 3.6 kg together. Volume 1 has a yellow cover showing Shiva with Parvati and the family, and Volume 2 shows Shiva seated in meditation. It suits a household or a reader who wants the full text rather than the condensed edition.

How it is used

Many Shiva devotees read it a chapter at a time, and some homes read it through during Shravan or Mahashivratri. It is a reading book, not a prayer manual.
