About this piece

Selenite is a soft, translucent white mineral, a form of gypsum. This plate is a flat disc cut from selenite, 3 inches across, engraved on the face with the Sri Yantra, the figure of nine interlocking triangles used in Shakta and Sri Vidya tradition.

It weighs 60 g. In crystal practice such plates are used as a flat base to rest other stones on, as one photo shows with a set of tumbled stones. It suits a shelf, a desk or an altar.

How it is used

Kept on a shelf or altar as a small plate for stones, a lamp or a few flowers, or as a plain display piece. In crystal practice other stones are placed on it. There are no fixed rules.

Looking after it

  • Selenite is soft and dissolves in water, so keep it dry.
  • Wipe with a dry cloth.
