About this piece
A footed brass lamp with a wide bowl, a pinched spout for the wick and bands of engraved pattern on the rim and the stem. The seller calls it a Kubera lamp, and Kubera is the god of wealth in Hindu tradition.
The seller describes the lamps as presented as a pair, priced per pair, with each lamp about 4 inches. The listed size is 7.6 cm high and wide and 10.2 cm deep, and the weight is 150 g, which the seller does not say is for one lamp or both. Diwali in 2026 falls on 8 November, and Dhanteras comes shortly before it.
How it is used
Kubera is worshipped in many homes at Dhanteras and Diwali, and a lamp is lit with oil and a wick on the altar. Many homes keep Kubera images in the north.
Looking after it
