About this piece
Six small brass diyas in a traditional shape, with a patterned rim and a pointed end for the wick. The seller calls them Dhan Kuber diyas, after Kubera, the god of wealth in Hindu tradition, and sells them for daily puja and festivals.
Each is about 6.1 cm long, and the pack is listed at 180 g. The photos show them unlit on white and lit on marble and stone. They suit a small mandir, a festival tray or a row on a windowsill.
How it is used
Lit with oil or ghee and a cotton wick in the puja room or on festival evenings such as Diwali. Many homes place a few diyas near the mandir, and some set a few near the entrance.
Looking after it
- Wipe the brass with a soft cloth and polish when it dulls.
- Wash off old oil with warm soapy water and dry well.
