About this piece
A small brass kalash, the round pot used in puja, with raised raised panels around the body. The seller calls it Ashtalakshmi, after the eight forms of Lakshmi in Hindu tradition, and the photos show a row of seated figures in arched frames under a crosshatched band.
It is 11.4 cm tall and about 12 cm across, and weighs 310 g. The mouth is wide with a flared rim, and the finish is bright polished brass.
How it is used
A kalash is placed at the altar during many pujas, often filled with water and topped with a coconut and mango leaves. It is common at Lakshmi puja and at Diwali, which falls on 8 November 2026.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Clean with a brass cleaner if it darkens, then dry fully.
