About this piece
A plain brass kalash for puja, made by hand in India. The one photo shows a bright, polished pot with a rounded body, a ridged neck and a flared mouth, with no decoration on it.
The title says 5 inch but the seller lists the width as 5 inches and the height as 3.5 inches, so it is a squat pot, 9 cm tall and 12.7 cm wide, weighing 180 g.
How it is used
A kalash is placed at the altar during many pujas, often filled with water and topped with a coconut and mango leaves. Many homes use one at Diwali, which falls on 8 November 2026.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Clean with a brass cleaner if it darkens, then dry fully.
