About this piece
This is the Rider Tarot Deck, also known as the Rider-Waite or Waite tarot, published by U.S. Games Systems. The publisher says the artwork is by Pamela Colman Smith under the guidance of Arthur Edward Waite, first published in 1909.
The seller says it was the first modern deck with fully illustrated minor cards. The photos show a yellow box, the cards and the instruction booklet. It is the usual first deck for a beginner, and most tarot books refer to it.
How it is used
A tarot deck is shuffled, cut and laid in spreads by a reader. As this is the reference deck for the Rider-Waite-Smith system, most beginner books and spread guides can be used with it directly.
