About this piece
The Tarot de Marseille is the older French style of tarot. This deck is published by Camoin, a card making house in Marseille since 1760, and the seller says it was reconstructed by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Philippe Camoin.
The seller says it returns to a 17th century style, with missing symbols restored and the original colours reproduced. There are 78 large cards, each 65 x 122 mm, and an instruction sheet. The photos show the illustrated box from two angles. It suits a reader who prefers the older style, where the minor cards show patterns of suit signs.
How it is used
A tarot deck is shuffled, cut and laid in spreads by a reader. The Marseille tradition shows the minor cards as patterns of suit signs, so readers often work with numbers and positions.
