About this piece
The Modern Witch Tarot Deck is a 78 card deck illustrated by Lisa Sterle, with a foreword by Vita Ayala, published by Sterling Ethos in November 2019. A hardcover guidebook is included.
The publisher says it keeps the traditional symbols but places them in contemporary life, with a diverse set of people and current fashion. The photos show the Rider-Waite scenes redrawn in soft pastels and yellows. It suits a reader who likes the standard card system with fresh art.
How it is used
A tarot deck is shuffled, cut and laid in spreads by a reader. The guidebook gives meanings, and because the card scenes follow the traditional pattern, many Rider-Waite-Smith books can be used alongside.
