About this piece
The Thoth tarot deck designed by Aleister Crowley, with art deco paintings by Lady Frieda Harris, published by U.S. Games in the large card size. The seller gives the card size as 3.75 x 5.5 inches.
The box in the photo is marked Large Deck and shows a blue winged horse and rider. The cards are painted in layered colour and carry titles that differ from the Rider Waite deck. It is usually chosen by readers who already know tarot and want Crowley's own system.
How it is used
Tarot decks are used for card readings. The cards are shuffled, a question is held in mind, and cards are laid out in a spread. The Thoth deck follows Crowley's own system, so a guidebook written for it is the most useful companion.
