About this piece
A small yantra plate in brass. The photos show a square plate coloured red, with a yellow circle and star at the centre, green rings around it, and Devanagari text naming the Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra along the top and Om Namah Shivaya along the bottom. There is a small loop at the top for hanging.
It measures 8 cm (3.2 in) square, is 0.5 cm thick and weighs 130 g. The back is plain brass.
How it is used
The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is addressed to Shiva, and a yantra with this name is often kept near a Shiva image or on the puja altar. The loop lets it hang on a nail or hook. Practices differ by family, so follow your own teacher's guidance.
Looking after it
- Dust gently with a soft dry cloth; avoid rubbing the coloured front.
