About this piece
A set of two handmade mats of kusha grass, a seat traditionally used for puja, japa and meditation. The photos show two pale woven mats with red borders on all four sides.
The seller gives each mat as 55 x 45 cm and about 2 cm thick. Kusha grass is mentioned in Hindu texts as a seat for sitting rituals, and many homes keep one mat for puja and a second for japa or guests.
How it is used
A kusha mat is the seat a person sits on for puja, japa or meditation. Many people keep it only for that use and store it rolled or flat when it is not in use.
Looking after it
