About this piece
A brass tortoise with its shell carved with raised figures of the Ashtalakshmi, the eight forms of Lakshmi, and a yantra on top, from the Lakshmi collection. The metal has an aged brass finish.
The seller gives the size as 7.5 cm high, 15 cm wide and 10.5 cm deep (3 x 6 x 4.2 inches), and the weight as 420 g. The photos show it from the front, above, and from several angles on a grey ground.
How it is used
Many homes keep a brass tortoise on a desk, a shelf or at a puja space. The shell design links it with Ashtalakshmi, the eight forms of Lakshmi, and with a yantra.
Looking after it

- Brass darkens with time. Polish lightly if you prefer a bright finish.
