About this piece
This mala is made of tulsi wood, strung with 108 pale cream beads and an orange tassel. The seller says the wood is from Mathura, and that the beads are smooth and uniform with the natural scent of tulsi.
Tulsi is sacred in Vaishnav tradition, and tulsi malas are used for japa of Vishnu, Rama and Krishna. This link is for the Small option of four sizes. The photos show the mala coiled on a cloth and a size graphic. It suits a devotee beginning Vaishnav japa.
How it is used
Tulsi malas are used for japa in Vaishnav practice, with mantras to Vishnu, Rama or Krishna, moving one bead at a time with the thumb. The seller suggests Thursday for beginning japa. Many Vaishnavas also wear tulsi beads.
