About this piece
Til oil is sesame oil, widely used for temple and home lamps in South India and elsewhere. This is Cycle Pure's Om Shanthi puja til oil, in a 900 ml clear bottle with a yellow cap and label.
The seller describes it as sesame oil processed for rituals and lamp lighting, and says it burns with a steady flame. The photos show the bottle beside a brass lamp and marigolds. It is made by N. Ranga Rao and Sons of Mysuru.
How it is used
Til oil is poured into a diya or a lamp stand and lit with a cotton wick during puja. In many homes a sesame oil lamp is lit for Shani (Saturn). Keep the lamp on a steady, heat safe surface.
