About this piece
Black sesame (kala til) is used in Indian kitchens and in some Hindu rituals. This is Organature's 350 g resealable looking pouch in white and red, with a window of black seeds at the bottom.
The seller says the seeds are whole, unhulled and natural, and sells them for cooking and baking, in breads, salads, sweets and savoury dishes. The packer is in Ahmedabad. Black til is also offered in some rituals, including those for Shani (Saturn).
How it is used
In the kitchen the seeds go into breads, laddus, chutneys and sweets. In some homes black til is also offered in a puja or a lamp, and in ancestor offerings. Store them in a dry, airtight container.
