About this piece
A loose 12 mukhi rudraksha bead of the small grade, from Java in Indonesia. The photos show one round bead with fine pits and ridges, seen from the face, the side and the top, against cream silk.
It can be strung on a cord or kept on an altar.
How it is used
A loose bead is usually threaded on a cord for the neck or wrist, or kept on an altar. The seller gives a short bija mantra on its page. The Shiva Purana (Vidyeshvara Samhita 25, verse 78) names the twelve Adityas for the twelve-faced bead. The Adityas are forms of the Sun, and astrologers today pair this bead with the Sun (Surya); the pairing is a later convention, not a statement of the Purana, and it is the one this site uses in its rudraksha guide and free kundali.
Looking after it
