About this piece
A square brass plate etched with the Kalsarpa yantra: two looping snake forms around a number grid, with Devanagari text across the top. The photo shows a gold-coloured plate with a fine border.
The seller says it comes in sizes from 3 to 12 inches, in antique or gold finish, with optional frames, stands and a puja kit. Kaal Sarp dosha is the name given in Vedic astrology to a chart where the planets sit between Rahu and Ketu.
How it is used
A yantra is usually set on an altar or a wall and used when chanting a mantra. The seller's optional puja kit lists a seating cloth, kusha grass, sandal paste, kumkum, akshat rice, a rosewood mala, Ganga water, incense and ghee wicks.
