About this piece
An aarti diya in solid brass. The oil reservoir is scalloped like a flower and decorated with beadwork, and it sits on a fluted pedestal base. A long handle curves out to the side, so the lamp can be held and waved during aarti.
The finish is a high polish golden brass. The seller gives no size or weight, so look at the photos to judge proportions.
How it is used
The seller says to use ghee or til oil with a rolled cotton wick. In many homes an aarti lamp is lit at the end of puja and waved before the deity. The long handle keeps the hand away from the flame.
Looking after it
- Let it cool completely before cleaning.
- Dry the reservoir thoroughly before its next use.
