About this piece
Akhand diyas are lamps kept lit for a long stretch, for instance through the nine nights of Navratri. This ServDharm lamp has a polished brass bowl under a borosilicate glass cover, with a knob on the side that moves the wick up or down.
The seller lists a 250 ml capacity for oil or ghee, up to 48 hours of burning and two wicks in the box. The photos show the lamp lit on a green leaf with flower petals, and a hand lifting the glass cover.
How it is used
Placed in the puja room or on the altar and filled with oil or ghee. Many homes light an Akhand diya for Navratri or for a long recital. Turn the side knob to raise or lower the wick.
Looking after it
- Let the lamp cool before lifting the glass or cleaning.
- Wipe the brass with a soft cloth and polish when it dulls.
