About this piece
A bronze Durga standing with eight arms inside a carved arch topped by a kirtimukha, the lion like face seen above many temple doorways and images. A lion sits at her feet on a flat base.
The photos show a bright golden bronze against a dark ground, with fine casting on the arch and the arms. The piece is 23.5 cm (9.2 in) tall and weighs 2.28 kg, which suits a home altar or a wide shelf.
How it is used
Many homes keep a Durga image on the altar, especially around Navaratri. The arch gives the statue a temple shrine look, so it often works as the main image on a shelf.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Avoid harsh polish, which can mark the finish.
