About this piece
A brass idol of Lord Hanuman. In the photos he sits on one knee with a mace resting against his shoulder, in a polished gold-toned brass with fine detailing. The seller calls the pose a posture of blessing and says it suits home temples, pooja rooms and offices.
The seller gives the material as solid brass, made in India. Its size and weight figures disagree, so check them before ordering.
How it is used
Hanuman is worshipped in many homes, and Tuesday is the day many devotees associate with him. The seller advises a solid chowki or a fixed shelf for the idol, and says it is traditionally installed facing north or east in the pooja room.
Looking after it
- The seller says tamarind pulp brightens brass; rinse it off and dry thoroughly so no moisture stays in the detailing.
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
