About this piece
A charan paduka is a representation of a deity's feet, kept for worship beside or in place of an image. The seller describes this one as the gold plated feet of Hanuman, supplied in a small box.
The photos show a black box that opens to a printed picture of Hanuman on the inner lid and a gold coloured pair of feet below. The seller lists it for a home temple or an office desk. The photos show it with marigolds and kumkum.
How it is used
The seller suggests setting the paduka so the feet point out into the room rather than into a wall, and offering sindoor or a flower beside it, not on it. Many homes keep a small paduka box on an altar shelf or a desk.
Looking after it
- Clean with a dry cloth only, as the seller advises, so oil and water do not sit on the plating.
