About this piece
A brass Ganesha idol from the Dakshina collection. The photos show Ganesha standing on a round base with one knee lifted, with what looks like a small drum held at the waist, a large head crown and the trunk curving to one side.
The seller calls the finish golden. In the photos the metal shows as a deep brown bronze with lighter wear on the high points, so expect an antique look rather than a bright gold. It suits a home shrine shelf, a desk or a gift for someone who has Ganesha as their ishta.
How it is used
A Ganesha image is traditionally placed at a home shrine and is often the first deity many families greet when starting a puja or a new task. Many homes keep one near the entrance as well.
