Revati is the twenty-seventh and last of the 27 nakshatras, the lunar mansions of Vedic astrology. It spans 16° 40′ to 30° 00′ Pisces, is ruled by Mercury and is presided over by Pushan, the shepherd and guide of travellers. Its symbol is a fish, sometimes a pair of fish or a drum, and it closes the circle of the 27 stars.
For Revati, as for every star, Hindu naming tradition looks to the pada the Moon occupied at birth, and the Avakahada chakra turns that pada into the first sound of the name. Revati has four padas, with the syllables De, Do, Cha and Chi. A baby’s pada and syllable can be found with the free nakshatra calculator using the date, time and place of birth.

Choosing the name
Begin with what your own family does. Some follow the first-letter chart strictly, some use the rashi letter (Revati is entirely in Meena, so the Moon sign letter is the same for all four padas), and many choose by meaning and are comfortable with that. All of these are respectable choices.
Revati is a kind star for namers. De and Cha both give long lists of well-known names, and Chi gives a good number tied to consciousness and the arts. Do is the narrow pada, with very few names, so a baby in pada 2 often takes the nearest sound, De or Da, and that is entirely normal.
Be careful with Cha and Chha. In Devanagari Cha (च) is a different letter from Chha (छ), which is the letter for Ardra pada 4. Names such as Chhaya belong to the other letter.
For families abroad, Ch is pronounced as in chair, which most English speakers manage easily. Chandra, Charu and Chitra are simple. Chandrashekhar is long, so decide on a short form early. Devesh and Devanshi can be read as Dev-esh and Dev-anshi, so teach the break. Whatever letter you choose, a meaning your child can be proud of is the best gift.
About Revati
Revati is the twenty-seventh and last nakshatra, the star of safe arrival and completion. Its symbol is a fish, sometimes a pair of fish, a drum or a journey-bell, and its deity is Pushan, the pastoral god who guides travellers and protects flocks. The ruler is Mercury. People with a Revati Moon are traditionally described as gentle, caring and protective, with a love of animals, travel and helping others on their way. These are tendencies for reflection and not predictions for any particular child. To read more, see Moon in Revati nakshatra.

Frequently asked questions
↳ What are the letters for Revati nakshatra?
The four syllables of Revati are De, Do, Cha and Chi, one for each pada. The quarter of Revati holding the Moon at the moment of birth chooses one sound from De, Do, Cha or Chi.
↳ Which letter for Revati nakshatra pada 3?
Pada 3 of Revati gives the syllable Cha (चा), so the name begins with Cha, as in Chandan, Charu or Chandni. The Moon is in Meena (Pisces) from 23° 20′ to 26° 40′ for this pada.
↳ Which Moon sign is Revati?
All four padas of Revati lie in Meena (Pisces), so every baby born under Revati has a Pisces Moon in the sidereal system.
↳ Can I choose a name outside these letters?
Yes. The first-letter rule is a tradition, not a requirement. A name you love, with a meaning you can share, will serve your child better than one chosen only to fit De, Do, Cha or Chi.
