Mars Mahadasha Saturn Antardasha: Meaning, Effects and Timing

The Mars-Saturn antardasha is the fourth sub-period of the Mars Mahadasha, at about 1 year, 1 month and 9 days. It comes straight after the expansive Mars-Jupiter stretch and is often the point where the Mahadasha gets serious: Mars’s urge to act meets Saturn’s insistence on structure, patience and responsibility.

It is a much searched pairing, because Mars and Saturn are both classical malefics and the mix has a reputation for friction. The reputation is partly earned and partly unfair. Saturn is the planet of discipline, and discipline is precisely what raw Mars lacks. A well-placed pair can produce the most durable work of the whole Mahadasha.
