How the finder works
Choose your town or city from the list that appears as you type, pick one of the eight events, and set a start and an end date, up to 800 days apart. The finder works out the sunrise of that place on each day, the times at which the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana change, the position of the Sun for the solar month, the lunar month, the period of Chaturmas and the asta of Jupiter and Venus. It then shows the days on which every condition of the classical rule is met together, with the time window inside the day.
The method is the same as on the event pages and does not change with the place: the rules of the Muhurta Chintamani, or for vehicles, property and shops the nearest rule it gives. The box below the result states the text, the chapter and each condition checked for the event you chose.
Reading the result
Each day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, the way a panchang day runs, so a window that starts after midnight belongs to the day before. Times are on the local clock of the place, with daylight saving applied automatically from its time zone. If a month shows no days, one of the conditions is excluding it, most often Chaturmas, asta or a solar month the text avoids for that event.
A listed day is a shortlist, not a verdict. The finder cannot check tarabala, chandrabala or the lagna for the people involved, so please let your family astrologer confirm a date before you fix it. For the plain-language rules, read the page for your event from the muhurat hub. The finder uses the panchang calculation, and for the day’s own details you can open the panchang for any place.
Frequently asked questions
↳ Does the finder need my email?
The first time you use it, it asks for an email address and sends a six-digit code, the same free check as the other tools on the site. After that it runs without asking again on the same device.
↳ Is the place I choose sent to you?
No. The days are worked out in your browser. The only request that leaves the page is the place search, which OpenStreetMap answers.
↳ Why do I get fewer days than I expected?
The rules are strict by design: a day is listed only when the nakshatra, weekday, tithi, months, yoga, karana, Chaturmas and asta conditions are all met together. Widen the dates, or compare the event page to see which condition is removing days.
↳ How far ahead can I look?
Any date from 1952 to 2073, in ranges of up to 800 days at a time.
