How this tool works
Pick your town or city from the list that appears as you type, choose a date and press the button. The tool finds the time zone for the place, works out sunrise, sunset and moonrise for that date, and gives the same table as the city pages on the panchang hub: the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana from sunrise with the time each ends, the amanta and purnimanta months, Rahu kaal, Yamaganda, Gulika kaal, the Abhijit muhurat, and the choghadiya and hora for the day and night.
The calculation runs in your browser from Swiss Ephemeris tables, with the sidereal Lahiri zodiac, so the place you choose is not sent to us. The only request that leaves the page is the place search, which is answered by OpenStreetMap. For the 49 cities on the hub the result is the same as the city page, and you can pick any date from 1951 to 2074.
A few things to know
Very far north or south, where the Sun does not rise or set for days, a sunrise based panchang cannot be given for those dates, and the tool says so. Daylight saving is applied automatically from the time zone of the place. If your family or temple keeps a different custom, it is right to follow it. For festival and vrat dates for any place, use the festival dates tool.
Frequently asked questions
↳ Does the tool need my email?
The first time you use it, it asks for an email address and sends a six-digit code, the same free check as the other tools on the site. After that it runs without asking again on the same device.
↳ Why does the result for my city match the city page?
Both use the same calculation. The city pages are built from it ahead of time for 49 cities, and this tool runs it on demand for any place and date.
↳ Which dates can I choose?
Any date from 1951 to 2074, which is the range the calculation covers. Past dates are useful for checking a birth day, and future dates for planning a ceremony.
↳ What if my town is small or not found?
Choose the nearest larger town in the list. The time zone is found from the coordinates, and a difference of a few kilometres changes the times by seconds, not minutes.
