About this piece
A polished white marble Shiva lingam set on a round base carved as overlapping lotus petals, with a spout on one side. The marble is smooth and creamy white, and the petals are carved thin and sharp.
The whole piece is 35.5 cm (14 inch) across, 15 cm (6 inch) tall and weighs 3.41 kg. The seller's text also says 14 inches tall, which does not match the specification, so the measurements here are the specified ones.
How it is used
Many homes keep a Shiva lingam on a clean altar and offer water, bilva leaves and flowers. The spout carries the water away, so many people place the piece on a tray or plate.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Keep away from oil, turmeric and kumkum, which stain white marble.
- Wipe water off at once and dry.
