About this piece
Navagraha means the nine planets of Vedic astrology: Surya, Chandra, Mangala, Budha, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu and Ketu. This brass piece shows the nine figures together on one shared base, in a dark antique finish.
It is 18 cm (7 inch) tall but 25.5 cm wide and 23 cm deep, and weighs 10 kg, so it is a heavy, compact block rather than a small figure. It suits a home shrine with a firm shelf or platform.
How it is used
In many temples and some homes the nine grahas are kept together in a Navagraha shrine, and devotees offer lamps and flowers to them as a group. A set on one base like this is placed on a steady shelf or platform.
