About this piece
Dashavatara means the ten avatars of Vishnu. This wall hanging has ten small brass figures, each standing on its own small ledge, set in a wooden frame against a red backdrop.
The frame is 51 cm (20 inch) tall and 25.5 cm wide, and the whole piece weighs 1.18 kg. It is made to be hung on a wall, so it suits a hall, a prayer room or a spot above a shrine.
How it is used
A common listing of the ten avatars is Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Narasimha, Vamana, Parashurama, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki, though some traditions differ. A framed set like this is hung on a wall, often in a prayer room or hall.
