About this piece
A brass wall hanging in the form of the face of Surya, the sun god, with a moustache, wide eyes and a ring of pointed rays around it. It has a small loop at the top for hanging and a bright golden finish.
The piece is 21 cm (8.2 inch) tall, 20 cm wide and only 3.5 cm deep. It weighs 1.1 kg, so it needs a secure fixing on the wall.
How it is used
Sun-face wall hangings are common in Indian homes and are hung on a wall as a decorative and devotional piece, often in a hall or near an entrance. Surya is also honoured in a daily arghya to the rising sun by some families.
