About this piece
This is a copper stand for dhoop or incense cones. The seller describes a rustic, handcrafted piece with a snake wound around the cup.
In the photos a small round cup sits on a base, with a snake hood rising at one side and its body curving out along the other. The copper has a warm reddish finish. It is a small piece meant for a shrine shelf or a temple corner at home.
How it is used
Place a dhoop or incense cone in the cup and light it on a steady, heat-safe surface, clear of cloth and paper. Snakes appear in Shiva imagery, and Rahu is linked with the serpent in Vedic astrology, so some homes choose this shape for a Shiva shrine.
Looking after it
- Let it cool, then tip out the ash.
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Copper darkens with time.
