About this piece
A one mukhi rudraksha has a single natural line, or face, running down the bead. The seller lists this one as a half moon type, which the page says originates from South India or Sri Lanka and is widely considered a substitute for the rarer one mukhi.
The photos show a wide, crescent shaped bead from three angles.
How it is used
Rudraksha beads are traditionally worn or kept at an altar. The seller says this bead is best for keeping on an altar. The Shiva Purana (Vidyeshvara Samhita 25, verses 64 to 65) calls the one-faced bead Shiva himself. Astrologers today pair this bead with the Sun (Surya); the pairing is a later convention, not a statement of the Purana, and it is the one this site uses in its rudraksha guide and free kundali.
