About this piece
A 5 mukhi rudraksha has five natural faces and is the most common mukhi. The seller describes it as widely used in malas for wearing and chanting. This is a single bead from Nepal in the regular grade, where the seller's size guide puts Nepal beads between 14 mm and 40 mm, with an average of 20 mm.
The seller names Om Hreem Namah as the beej mantra. The photos show the bead from three sides and a heap of beads.
How it is used
Rudraksha beads are traditionally worn or used for japa, repeating a mantra. The seller says the 5 mukhi is popularly used in malas. The Shiva Purana (Vidyeshvara Samhita 25, verses 69 to 70) calls the five-faced bead Rudra himself, named Kalagni. Astrologers today pair this bead with Jupiter (Guru); the pairing is a later convention, not a statement of the Purana, and it is the one this site uses in its rudraksha guide and free kundali.
