About this piece
This aarti stand is handcrafted with a brass trough that spreads out like a flower. A long metal handle is joined to it, which keeps the hand clear of the flame when you wave it.
The seller says brass is heat resistant, so it can hold camphor, dhoop or oil lamps. The photos show the flower trough at one end of a long dark handle with a bent foot that lets it stand. It can also stay on a shrine shelf as a plain brass piece.
How it is used
Aarti is the waving of a lit flame before a deity. Light camphor or a lamp in the trough and wave it in a circle before the image, holding the handle. Let it cool before you touch the trough.
Looking after it
- Let it cool, then wipe with a soft dry cloth.
- Clean off camphor residue and soot after use.
