About this piece
This mala has 72 Java rudraksha beads of 13 to 17 mm, plus one Meru bead, so 72+1. The seller says a Gaurishankar rudraksha, a natural joined pair of beads, forms the Meru, and that the beads are strung with thread knots between them and finished with a red and golden thread tassel.
The photos show large, rounded brown beads with red thread, shown coiled, on a mannequin bust and in close view.
How it is used
Rudraksha malas are traditionally used for japa, counting mantras on the beads, or worn. The seller says this one is strung in the RRCT style, with beads set to face the same way. The Shiva Purana gives each faced bead its own deity, and our rudraksha guide lists them.
