About this piece
A brass oil burner with a rounded, pot-shaped body that narrows to an open top. The photos show an arched opening in the front, a Nandi bull lying down, etched on one side, a border of black patterns around the neck and three small feet.
A separate small dark brass dish sits beside it in one photo. The seller says it is for burning essential oils. The page we read gives no size or weight.
How it is used
An oil burner holds a small lamp or tea light underneath and a dish above for water mixed with essential oil. Nandi is the bull who is Shiva's mount, and many homes keep his image near a Shiva shrine.
Looking after it
- Let it cool fully before touching or cleaning.
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth, and use a brass cleaner if it darkens.
