About this piece
A standing Mahavira carved by hand in white wood, shown upright with arms at the sides on an eight-sided dark wooden base. The photos show a warm brown finish and carved detail on the lower body and arms.
It is 27 cm tall and weighs 450 g, so it is light for its height. It suits a shelf or a small altar.
How it is used
Many Jain homes keep a Tirthankara image in a small, clean shrine and start the day there with a lamp and a short prayer. A wooden piece like this suits a shelf, away from direct heat.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Keep away from water, damp and direct sun, which can mark wood.
