About this piece
A small seated Mahavira, the twenty-fourth Tirthankara, cast in bronze. The photos show the figure with crossed legs and hands resting in the lap, on a round base carved in lotus petals.
At 7.6 cm tall and 240 g it is a very small piece. It suits a compact home shrine, a desk or a shelf where a larger idol will not fit.
How it is used
Many Jain homes keep a Tirthankara image in a small, clean shrine and start the day there with a lamp, a short stotra or a few quiet minutes. A piece this size is easy to place on a shelf or a small altar.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Keep away from water so the metal does not stain.
