About this piece
A standing Mahavira in brass, shown upright with arms at the sides, the pose Jain images use for kayotsarga, a posture of stillness. The photos show a polished gold-coloured finish with detailing on the legs and the throne behind them.
It is 10 cm tall and weighs 380 g, so it fits a small home shrine or shelf. The seller lists it as handmade.
How it is used
Many Jain homes keep a Tirthankara image in a small, clean shrine, often facing a window or the east. A small standing figure like this is placed on a shelf or altar with a lamp and a few flowers or fruit.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth.
- Brass darkens with time; polish gently with a brass cleaner if you want it bright.
