About this piece
A standing Mahavira in brass, set inside a tall arched frame in the style of a temple throne. The photos show a richly carved border, a lion-like Kirtimukha face at the top and a stepped base, with the figure upright in the centre.
It is 13 cm tall and weighs 800 g. The back is plain and flat, so it stands best on a shelf or in a niche against a wall.
How it is used
Many Jain homes keep a Tirthankara image in a small, clean shrine. A framed figure like this suits a shelf or niche where it can sit against the wall, with a lamp and a few offerings in front.
Looking after it
- Dust with a soft dry cloth, using a soft brush for the carved border.
