About this piece
A seated Mahavira in brass, made as a flat plaque rather than a full statue, with the back left open for hanging. The photos show a gold-coloured figure with hands in the lap on a base carved with small animal and symbol panels.
It is 14 cm tall, 11 cm wide and under 2 cm deep, and weighs 380 g. The seller lists it as handmade in India.
How it is used
Many Jain homes mount a Tirthankara image on the wall of a prayer corner or hang one near the door of the shrine room. A flat piece like this takes little space where a standing idol would not fit.
