A white marble Ganesha seated on a lotus base, with a raised hand in a blessing gesture and an arched halo behind his head. The marble is smooth and bright white, with gold colour on the eyes and small touches of detail.

It is 45.5 cm (18 inch) tall, 33 cm wide and weighs 28.15 kg. This is a large, heavy piece for a home shrine with a firm platform or a temple room.

How it is used

Ganesha is worshipped at the start of many puja and is kept in homes and temples. A large marble image like this is placed on a firm, level platform in a prayer room or entrance hall.

Looking after it

  • Dust with a soft dry cloth.
  • Keep away from oil, turmeric and kumkum, which stain white marble.
  • Wipe spills at once with a damp cloth, then dry.
