About this piece
A japa mala of smooth black ebony beads, finished with a silver bead cap and a bright orange tassel at the end. The photos show uniform round matte beads on a loop, with the tassel hanging at the front.
The seller lists it as sterling silver and ebony wood, 15.5 inches (39 cm) long and 34 g, and says it comes certified. The seller does not state the number of beads.
How it is used
A japa mala is traditionally held in the right hand and counted bead by bead while a mantra or name is repeated, starting and stopping at the tassel end. It can also be kept at the altar.
Looking after it
- Keep dry and wipe with a soft cloth.
- Keep silver away from perfume and chemicals, which can tarnish it.
